The short version
Springaroo keeps what it stores on your phone and works out your figures there. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server belonging to us. We cannot see your weight, what you drink, where you are, or that you use the app at all.
The app sends nothing off your phone. It never asks for your location: the weather it works from is the sky you pick for the day — see What leaves your phone. On Android, your phone's own backup can copy the app's data to Google — see What is stored on your phone.
The app has no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind.
Who we are

What is stored on your phone
All of it is kept on the phone — in the app's own storage, apart from the reminders, which the phone's notification system holds — and the app transmits none of it (on Android, see Google's Auto Backup below):
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| What to call you, if you gave one | Any name or nickname, optional. Used to greet you on the last setup screen and at the top of your result on the Activity tab — never in a reminder, which shows on your lock screen | Until you change or erase it |
| Body mass | It sets the baseline figure and the sweat estimate | Until you change or erase it |
| Sex, age band, height | Sex selects the published baseline amount and which body the app draws. Age band only sets the drawn figure's hairstyle. Height is optional and only sets how big your dog is drawn beside you | Until you change or erase it |
| Waking and sleeping hours | Sets the window reminders are allowed in | Until you change or erase it |
| What you drank, and when | Produces today's running total and your history | 60 days, then automatically deleted |
| Each day's figure and conditions | So history shows each day against its own figure | 60 days |
| Sweat-rate measurements | Replaces our estimate with your own figure | The 20 most recent |
| Your water bottle size | Adds one more button to the log row, in the size you actually drink from | Until you change or erase it |
| Whether you have been active in the heat lately | Does not change your figure — it tells you which way our estimate is likely to be off for you, and points you at a weigh-in | Until you change or erase it |
| The sessions you usually do, and for how long | Puts your usual activities at the front of the picker, and starts the duration on your own figure | Until you change or erase it |
| Whether you have a dog, if you told us | So the app only asks about your dog if you have one. It does not change your own figures | Until you change or erase it |
| Your dogs' names, weights, sex, age and breed, if you add them (and any heat ticks entered in an earlier version, kept but no longer shown or used) | To work out each dog's water. It does not change your own figures. Stays on this phone | Until you change or erase it |
| Which of your dogs and friends are coming today | Adds their water to the day's result | That day only |
| The water you log for each of your dogs today — how much, and when | Fills each dog's picture beside yours on the Log screen, towards the water worked out for it. It does not change your own figures | That day only; a dog you remove takes its entries with it |
| Friends you've added: each one's name and — only if you give them — male or female, weight and height. Every detail but the name can be left out or answered "Rather not say" | To work out each friend's water figure on the result when they come along. Without a weight it is estimated, and the result says so. It does not change your own figures. Stays on this phone | Until you change or erase it |
| The water you log for a friend today — each drink's amount and time | Shows each friend's water logged today on the Log screen. It does not change your own figures | That day only, reset at midnight; a friend you remove takes their entries with them. Erasing your data clears it |
| Where your day usually happens | Sets the starting answer for the air-conditioning question, which you can still change any day | Until you change or erase it |
| Today's declared activity, and roughly when it starts if you picked a time | Shapes the day's plan; the start time decides when the reminders during it come | Reset each day |
| Which animals the billabong on the Activity tab has already shown you today, and how full it was then | So each arrival plays once, and the rain starts from where it left off | That day only |
| The name you give the joey at the billabong, if you give one | Shown on the joey's cards in place of "your joey". Stays on this phone | Until you change or erase it |
| The sky you picked for today, and on a sunny, hot or very hot day how humid it is | Sets the day's conditions — temperature, humidity, wind, UV and sun — from a fixed table of typical conditions for each sky. The table is our own judgement, not a reading of your weather | That day only |
| Whether reminders are on | A setting, so it survives closing the app | Until you change or erase it |
| The reminders planned — a few during today's activity, if you picked roughly when it starts, a summary around 7 pm today, and a summary around 7 pm on each of the next six evenings | Held by your phone's own notification system, so they can arrive while the app is closed. The summary says how much water you have logged today (the same total the Log screen shows), what has been logged for each of your dogs by name, and a line about the billabong — for example "You've logged 2.1 L today. Kuma: 0.6 L. Four little mates came down to the billabong. Nice work keeping count." The ones during your activity name it and how far in you are — "Walking the dog · 40 min in. You've logged 0.8 L today." A summary for a coming evening is written for a day with nothing logged ("No water logged for you today."), which is what it would be if you don't open the app that day; opening the app or logging a drink plans them all again with the real totals. None says what to drink, how far behind you are or what the weather is. Like any notification, it can show on your lock screen. Each plays your phone's standard notification sound | Until each is delivered, or the app plans them again, which it does each time you log a drink or open the app. When it does, it also clears this app's reminders already in your phone's notification history, so one that is no longer true does not stay there |
| Which streak milestones you have reached, and the day you reached each | So a run you finished two months ago is still credited after the drinks that earned it have been deleted; it records a count of days, never an amount | Until you erase it |
| The days the billabong filled, for the joey growing into Big Red: those days' dates, the day Big Red arrived and was shown, how many days the joey's card last showed, and whether its card and the "G'day! Tap me" have been seen | So the joey grows a little each day the billabong fills and Big Red arrives once, on the 14th; it records dates, never an amount | Until you erase it |
| The day the app asked for an App Store rating, if it has | So it asks only once, after your first reward, using Apple's own rating window. The app never sees whether or how you rate it | Until you erase it |
| Which challenge badges you have earned, and the day you earned each | So a badge stays on your profile after the drinks that earned it have been deleted; it records that a challenge was completed, never an amount | Until you erase it |
| For each day, whether you answered "What are you up to?", whether your dog came, and whether you ticked "My dog's water is logged" (days before 5 October 2026 may also say whether the weather you picked was 35 °C or over; that is kept but no longer used) | Counts towards three challenges (planning your day; days with your dog; Top Dog, fourteen days in a row of your dog's water). A yes or no only — not which activity, not how long, not the weather itself | 60 days, then automatically deleted |
| Whether you have finished setting up | So setup is not shown twice | Until you erase it |
| The time you finished setting up, on that first day only | So your first day's pace starts when you started, not at midnight — nobody begins "behind" | That day only, then deleted |
| iPhone only: today's figures for the app's home-screen widget, kept up to date whether or not you have added the widget: litres drunk and today's figure, whether you are on pace (and how far behind, in litres), where you would be by now, the time of the next reminder — for the rest of today, plus the widget's pictures of the joey | The Today's water widget draws from these; a widget cannot read the app's own storage | Replaced whenever the app updates the widget. The widget shows a new, empty day from midnight, but the last figures the app sent stay in that area until the app next updates it, or is deleted |
There is no location in the table because the app never has one: it never asks for your location and never reads your phone's position.
This data is held in the app's private storage area, which other apps cannot read and which the operating system encrypts along with the rest of the phone's storage.
On iPhone it is not included in your device backups. The storage the app uses marks it as excluded, so it is in neither an iCloud backup nor a backup to a computer, and restoring a backup to a new phone does not bring it back. The widget's figures are the exception. A widget cannot read the app's private storage, so the figures it shows (the widget row in the table above) are kept in a shared area on the phone that only this app and its own widget can read — an iOS "App Group" — which is not excluded from device backups the way the app's own storage is. It holds today's figures only, never your drink log, your body details or your history. If you put the widget on your Lock Screen, those figures can be seen there without unlocking the phone. On Android it is included in Google's Auto Backup where you have that switched on. That backup is governed by Google's terms, not ours — we cannot read it and it never reaches us.
What leaves your phone
Nothing: the app sends none of what it stores, and nothing else, off your phone.
Weather
The app does not fetch the weather. The weather it works from is the sky you pick for the day, from nine tiles: Sunny, Hot, Very hot, Partly cloudy, Cloudy, Windy, Rain, Storm and Cold. On the three sunny ones it also asks how humid it is — Dry, Normal or Humid. Each tile stands for typical conditions — temperature, humidity, wind, UV and sun — through a fixed table in the app. That table is our own judgement of a typical day under each sky, not a measurement of yours. Your pick is kept on the phone for that day only. Until you pick a sky, the app works from a general estimate and labels it as one.
The app never asks for your location and never reads your phone's position, so there is no location permission to grant or decline, and no weather service receives anything from it.
Nothing else
The app makes no outbound connection. No analytics, advertising, attribution, A/B testing, crash reporting or social SDK is present in the app. Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself: the app never registers for push notifications, so no reminder passes through us or through anyone else. The links in Rewards → Your details & settings to this policy and to the support page open in your browser. Your phone's own backup is the operating system's, not the app's — on Android, see What is stored on your phone.
Overseas disclosure
None. The app sends nothing off your phone, so there is nothing for us to disclose outside Australia. On Android, your phone's own backup can copy the app's data to Google, under Google's terms rather than ours — see What is stored on your phone.
Health information
The app records body mass, fluid intake and sweat measurements, and works out a daily water figure from them. In Australia this is capable of being health information, which carries stronger protection than ordinary personal information.
The app never sends it to us. We hold none of it, so there is nothing for us to disclose, sell or lose.
Springaroo is a water tracker, not medical advice. If a doctor has given you a fluid target, follow theirs. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.
Your rights
Because nothing is held by us, the usual access and correction requests have nothing to operate on — your data is already in your hands, editable in Rewards → Your details & settings and deletable at any time.
To delete everything: Rewards → Your details & settings → Erase all my data, then tap again to confirm. That removes every item in the table above from your phone immediately, including the reminders still waiting to arrive, and anything an earlier version of the app kept that this version no longer uses. Reminders that have already arrived are in your phone's notification history, not the app's storage: the app clears them the next time it is opened, and otherwise they stay until you clear them. Deleting the app also removes the app's data. On Android, neither action reaches a copy already in Google's Auto Backup; on iPhone there is no such copy.
If you believe we have mishandled personal information, contact us at support@springaroo.com.au. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: https://www.oaic.gov.au.
Children
Springaroo is intended for adults. The setup screens offer no age band below 18, but they also offer "Rather not say", so we do not verify anyone's age and cannot claim to. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and because the app sends us none of what it stores, we hold nothing about anyone of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
